Ecologically clean types of fuel: what alternatives exist for the Ukrainian market?

Today, almost all fuel for modern internal combustion engine (ICE) equipment is derived from the processing of oil, petroleum, and natural gas. When burned, these fuels produce harmful compounds that significantly worsen the planet's ecological condition. Since the 1980s, humanity has been striving to develop environmentally friendly fuel that does not pollute the environment. Over the past half-century, many alternative replacements for natural hydrocarbons have been found, with minimal pollutant emissions during combustion.

If you want to purchase high-quality fuel, contact UTNK, a company that sells products from European refineries. Our petroleum products have high environmental standards and are approved for use in vehicles of any purpose.

What types of fuel exist on the market and are considered the most environmentally friendly?

Currently, only hydrogen is considered an absolutely safe gas that, when burned, produces no harmful substances—only pure water. Its use is still in the experimental stage, and as an alternative to petroleum products, this gas can only be considered viable several decades from now.

All other gases, alcohols, oils, natural and chemical compounds that can power ICEs contain varying amounts of hazardous elements. The list of alternative fuels is outlined in the Law of Ukraine No. 1391-XIV dated January 14, 2000, which is continually updated and revised. Here are the main fuel substitutes already being distributed worldwide:

All alternative fuels require more energy to produce one liter of product compared to petroleum gasoline. If gasoline is taken as 1, others require between 1.1 and 4 units of energy.

In Ukraine, biological additives for fuel are almost nonexistent because they are not produced locally and are more expensive than conventional fuels. It is too early to make predictions, but there is little hope for the emergence of domestic biofuels in the next five years.
